UPDATE (on 2/13/14): PROJECT HAS BEEN EXTENDED – SEE FULL STORY
The Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) is currently performing important track work between Richmond (RIC) and Martinez (MTZ) during parts of January and February from 7pm to 4am.
- The first stage of work, which began in early January, has already been completed.
- The second stage is on schedule to begin Friday, January 24 and will be completed by Friday, January 31.
- The third stage, which was originally scheduled to take place from February 8-12, has been extended through February 15, with additional work needed to complete the project happening on two weekend days – Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23.
(Please note that work will not be happening between February 15 and 22.)
To accommodate the extended work period, the temporary schedule currently in effect for select night trains will continue through February 15 instead of February 12 (including the chartered buses between Sacramento and Oakland Jack London); however, for the added weekend days of February 22-23, trains will run on their regular schedules, not the modified temporary schedule. There will, however, be potential for minor delays.
The following is a summary of the schedule modifications that have been in effect since the first stage of work began on January 9 and that will be in effect through February 15:
Trains could have minor delays during the work periods and reach their final destinations (Westbound: Oakland Jack London, Oakland Coliseum, San Jose Diridon, Eastbound: Sacramento) 15 to 20 minutes later than the regular, published schedule.
The following trains have more significant schedule modifications for this project:
Trains 544, 546, and 744 – These trains will operate on a modified schedule between Martinez and Sacramento, between 15 and 40 minutes later than the regular schedule.
Trains 746 and 748 – These trains will operate on a modified schedule between Oakland and Sacramento, between 15 and 60 minutes later than the regular schedule.
Trains 551 and 548 – These trains will be replaced by chartered buses between Sacramento and Oakland Jack London.
Please download the temporary schedule here.
When this track work is completed in February, it will result in an improved track roadbed to help maintain our high level of on-time performance for years to come. Thank you for your patience.
