After much anticipation, Sacramento will have a brand-new downtown arena, the Golden 1 Center. There will be an Open House at the arena for the public on Saturday, October 1 from 11am to 3pm, and its inaugural event will be the Paul McCartney concert on Tuesday, October 4 and Wednesday, October 5, both shows starting at 8:00pm. Golden 1 Center is also the permanent home of the Sacramento Kings NBA basketball team. Click here for a full list of Golden 1 Center events and read on for details on how to get to and from the arena car free.
Leave the Car at Home and Take the Capitol Corridor
The Golden 1 Center is a 10-minute walk from the Sacramento train station, making Capitol Corridor a quick and convenient option for travel to most events there from Davis, Suisun/Fairfield, and all other stations in the San Francisco Bay Area. (Please note there will be no additional/special Capitol Corridor service to/from Auburn to serve Golden 1 Center events.)
Here’s how to get from the train station to Golden 1 Center:
Late Event? No Problem with the Yolobus Y Shuttle
For very late-ending events at Golden 1 Center, like the Paul McCartney concert, attendees will not be able to take the Capitol Corridor home because the last westbound train departs too early, at 10:30pm.
For Davis passengers, however, we’ve partnered with Yolobus so that those who are attending late events (or who linger too long after a 7:30pm Kings game), will have a safe and convenient ride back to Davis. Passengers will be able to take Yolobus’ new express shuttle, the Y, from Golden 1 Center to the Davis Amtrak Station FOR FREE with a Transit Transfer from the Capitol Corridor.
This special return service on the Y is only for travel between Sacramento and Davis after Golden 1 Center events and does not serve any other Capitol Corridor stations. Passengers who plan to ride the Y back to Davis must request a Transit Transfer from the Capitol Corridor conductor on their trip to Sacramento, and present the Transit Transfer to the Y bus driver as they board for the return trip. This coordinated service between the Capitol Corridor and Yolobus is only available if requested by one or more passengers; bus drivers will make announcements on board to ask if there are passengers going to the Davis train station.
