Thanksgiving Travel Advisory – November 2010

Extended Train Service for Train 553
On Wednesday, November 24, Capitol Corridor will run extended train service between the Sacramento (SAC) and San Jose (SJC) stations. Train 553 will stop at all stations between Sacramento and San Jose, giving passengers who travel from Sacramento to the Bay Area an additional evening travel option. Caltrain equipment for trains 542 & 553 – Wednesday November 24th ONLY
In order to maximize available seating capacity, Caltrain will provide the Capitol Corridor a set of equipment to assist with the holiday travel rush. On Wednesday, November 24th only, Trains 542 and 553 will consist of Caltrain equipment, not the regular Amtrak California equipment used for our service. Passengers planning to travel aboard either of those trains on Wednesday should listen carefully to any announcements made by conductors when the train pulls into the station and be advised that limited snack service will be available.

One Ticket, One Seat
Please be mindful that this will be an extremely busy travel weekend. As a courtesy to other passengers, please store your carry-on baggage in the luggage racks, overhead bins, or on the floor under your seat to keep seats open for riders during this busy time.

Avoid the Rush
Busiest travel days are Wednesday before and Sunday after Thanksgiving. If traveling on Wednesday and want to avoid the crowds, ride before noon or after 6:00 p.m. CCJPA officials urge passengers to purchase tickets in advance. You can buy online at Amtrak.com, at Ticket Kiosk self-ticketing kiosks, or from an agent at staffed stations. Passengers should allow plenty of time at stations prior to departure – at least 45 minutes before, if tickets need to be picked up. Capitol Corridor’s entire timetable, parking, luggage guidelines and ticketing information can be found in the Fares & Tickets and Onboard sections of our website.

Weekend/Holiday Schedule
Capitol Corridor will operate a weekend/holiday schedule on Thursday November 25 and Friday November 26, 2010 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
