Capitol Corridor Offers Convenient, Traffic-Free Service and a 25% Fare Discount to and from the Santa Clara/Great America Station

OAKLAND, CA, August 14, 2014 – East Bay and Sacramento area football fans will be able to avoid traffic hassles and travel comfortably to the first pre-season game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara this Sunday, August 17, by taking the Capitol Corridor. Capitol Corridor trains stop at the Santa Clara/Great America station, which is an easy five-minute walk to the stadium, and it’s the only public transit option that allows fans to eat and drink while enjoying the ride. Fans can buy food and beverages – including beer, wine, and spirits– in the Café Car.

“For fans coming from Oakland, Richmond, Berkeley, Martinez – and especially Sacramento – Capitol Corridor is the most convenient way to get to the game, “said Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority Board Chair James Spering. “All of our trains have comfortable, spacious seating, wi-fi, and café cars stocked with tail gating goodies, so passengers can avoid traffic headaches and enjoy the ride to the game.”

Flexible Schedules to Accommodate Stadium Visitors
Capitol Corridor recently adjusted its train schedule to better accommodate stadium event-goers. The service makes more than a dozen trips between Sacramento and Silicon Valley each day, including weekends, so fans will have flexibility in choosing when they arrive at the stadium and even enjoy a little pre-game tailgating. For this Sunday’s football game, for example, there are three trains from Sacramento that arrive in Santa Clara before the 1:00 p.m. start time, and there are several options for the return trip home. Capitol Corridor added a morning trip from Auburn as well to get Gold Country fans to the stadium in time for kickoff, as well as a return trip departing Santa Clara at 5:24 pm.

Easy Online Ticketing and Special Fare Discount
Capitol Corridor tickets can be purchased easily online, and for those passengers attending the game, there’s a 25% discount on fares to and from the Santa Clara/Great America Station. To purchase a ticket online and receive the discount, fans should go to www.capitolcorridor.org, and follow the link in the “Special Offers” and “Promotions” section. Tickets can also be purchased from a station ticket agent, at a Ticket Kiosk kiosk, or from a train conductor when boarding at an unstaffed station by using the special discount code on Capitol Corridor’s stadium web page.

Getting to and from the Stadium
The Santa Clara/Great America station is an easy, five-minute walk to the stadium entrance. Capitol Corridor has put together guidelines to help fans get from the station to the stadium.
