1. Capitol Corridor thanks you with Rider Appreciation Events!
As a big ‘Thank You’ to our Capitol Corridor riders, we are hosting two Rider Appreciation events. Snacks will be provided, there will be penny wine-tasting for those passengers over 21, and Capitol Corridor staff will be onboard to answer questions and give away goodies, while supplies last.
Here are the dates and trains of the events:
Tuesday, April 24th aboard train 545 from Sacramento to Oakland Jack London
Thursday, April 26th aboard train 540 from Oakland Jack London to Sacramento
2. What’s Happening with Wi-Fi?
Capitol Corridor’s wireless Internet trials were completed in February 2007. Since the start of the trials with our industry partners, we have listened to your comments and gained important insight about the service qualities you value for onboard wireless Internet to become a viable feature for train customers. We have been researching the ways in which a wireless network can enhance the train service and safety features delivered to you as well. Over the next year, the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority will undergo a public procurement process to obtain a system that meets our standards.
3. Kids Ride Half-Off
This summer, ditch the minivan and take your next family getaway on the train. With lots of great destinations like Paramount’s Great America, Six Flags Marine World, the Oakland Coliseum, and the Sacramento Railroad museum just steps from Capitol Corridor stations, taking the train couldn’t be easier!
4. CCJPA Business Plan released
Thank you to all the passengers who participated in our Public Workshops and provided input for the Capitol Corridor business plan. Capitol Corridor has just released its final business plan update for FY07-08 and FY08-09. Visit www.capitolcorridor.org to view a copy.
5. Sacramento Parking Changes
The City of Sacramento has instituted new Pay-By-Space parking machines at the Sacramento Valley Station and the surrounding parking lots to make paying for parking easier for customers. The parking lots are located at 5th & I Streets, 6th & H Streets and 7th & G Streets in downtown Sacramento encompassing 1012 parking spaces.
Daily and hourly customers will use the new Pay-By-Space Machines to pay for their parking. The Pay-By-Space machines accept coins, cash, and credit cards (Visa & MasterCard). The customer need only pay at the machine and enter the parking stall number, collect a receipt and go. Monthly parking customers will continue to use the existing hangtags, and will not be using the new technology.
City of Sacramento staff will continue to be on hand to help introduce customers to the new machines and help ensure a smooth transition. More information is available on the City of Sacramento’s Website.
