CC Rail Mail: One Ticket One Seat, Bike to Work Day Recap, Amtrak Student Discount

One Ticket, One Seat Reminder

We know you like to kick back when you’re on board, but please stow your stuff in the overhead bin or under the seat to make room for other passengers. We continue to hear from riders that empty seats are being taken up by passengers’ personal items. This makes it difficult for boarding passengers to find a place to sit. Because we track ridership on every single train, we know there are enough seats for everyone, even on our busiest trains. Amtrak conductors are doing what they can to assist, but we need your help too. If you really need your things right next to you, the conductors will be happy to sell you another ticket for that seat—one ticket, one seat. And please, no feet on seats – not only will that seat be unavailable for other passengers, but it makes the seat dirty. Thank you.

Service Updates for Memorial Day Weekend

In observance of Memorial Day, Capitol Corridor will operate according to the weekend/holiday schedule on Monday, May 30. In addition, connecting bus service to the Napa stop (NAP) will be suspended from Friday, May 27 through Sunday, May 29 due to street closures and traffic congestion associated with the annual BottleRock concert. Read our news story for more information on connections that will be impacted by the temporary suspension of the Napa stop.

Bike to Work Day Recap

We had a lot of fun on Bike to Work Day this year! Check out our photo recap from the Sacramento Capitol Bike Fest and our on board “Cappy Hours” on Thursday, May 12. And remember, May is Bike Month, so it’s not too late to give bicycling a try. Visit the Bikes on Board page of our website for details on bringing your bike on board a Capitol Corridor train.

Travel Options to SF with Reduced Bus Service

On May 1, Capitol Corridor implemented a significant change to its bus schedule and routing between Emeryville and San Francisco. This included the elimination of service at several stops and reduction in service at others. (See original news story for details.) In our latest blog article, we provide helpful tips on how to navigate your way between the Capitol Corridor and downtown San Francisco given fewer connecting bus options.
