CC Rail Mail: New August 22 Schedule Reminder, New Cafe Car Menu, and Cal Football Discount

New Schedule Goes into Effect August 22

As a reminder, Capitol Corridor will introduce a new schedule on Monday, August 22. This is the first major schedule change Capitol Corridor has implemented since 2006 and will affect both trains and buses. By looking at ridership data and using the existing number of trains in the fleet, we were able to reconfigure trips to better serve passengers during peak travel periods. While this change necessitated the elimination of some trains with lower ridership, it allows us to add morning train service to San Jose, afternoon service from Oakland and San Francisco/Emeryville to Sacramento, and later trains from Sacramento on weekdays and weekends. Read more about the new schedule and view the new schedule.

Hot New Café Car Menu to Debut August 15

At the height of the summer season, Capitol Corridor will be launching a hot new menu for the Café Car on August 15, featuring a variety of specialty sandwiches, salads, and more. The Mexican Style Caesar Salad is packed with flavor and quickly becoming a favorite among staff. For an even more satisfying option, the Shredded Short Rib Sandwich with a Chimichurri Cream Cheese melts in your mouth. Stop by the Café Car onboard the train to see the great new menu choices, as well as some of the all-time favorites, starting mid-August.

“Docks to Delta” Podcast Available On Board the Capitol Corridor

Sit back and relax because we’ve got a whole new way for you to experience the Capitol Corridor train! In partnership with the Cal Ags Roots Project of the California Institute for Rural Studies, the Capitol Corridor is offering access to a fascinating podcast series that was recently recorded on board a weekend Capitol Corridor train between Oakland and Sacramento.

The Docks to Delta Podcast is comprised of three stories that reveal the hidden history behind the landscape along the Capitol Corridor route. The first podcast, “There’s Nothing More Californian than Ketchup,” is best listened to between Suisun and Davis and tells the incredible story of one of UC Davis’ most significant inventions—the mechanical tomato harvester. Visit the Docks to Delta page on our website to stream the series or download them to your smart phone.
