Important Amtrak Tariff Updates:
Change in Cancellation Fee Policy and Discontinuation of Veterans Advantage Discount

On Tuesday, March 20, Amtrak will institute a new cancellation fee policy. Passengers who cancel a booking 7 days or less prior to the date of travel will be charged 25% of the ticket value. The current policy incurs a 20% penalty for trips cancelled within 48 hours of departure. Please note, however, that because the Capitol Corridor service is technically unreserved, passengers who cannot travel on their booked departure date may keep their ticket and use it to travel on another day within one year of the travel date without incurring a penalty.

Also, effective Sunday, March 24, Amtrak is discontinuing its discount program for Veterans Advantage members, which offers a 15% fare discount to veterans. The Capitol Corridor is working to establish a new veterans discount for Capitol Corridor riders. This discount should be available later this spring, so stay tuned! The 10% Active-Duty Military discount remains unchanged.
