Due to winter weather conditions affecting road conditions in the Sierra Nevada, passengers using Capitol Corridor bus connections to/from Reno and South Lake Tahoe should anticipate delays and service adjustments, beginning Sunday, March 2, through Monday, March 3, 2025.

Passengers are encouraged to monitor updates on the Capitol Corridor or Amtrak websites or apps and allow extra time for travel. Your safety is our priority, and we appreciate your patience during these weather-related disruptions. 

Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority Announces Appointment of Six New Board Members and Four Alternates

Oakland, CA – February 21, 2025 – Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of six new members and four alternates to its Board of Directors for the 2025-2027 term. Approved during the February Board meeting, these appointments bring fresh perspectives to the CCJPA Board and strengthen its leadership.  

Newly appointed Board members: 

  • Mark Foley – San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) – returning member
  • Edward Wright – BART Board Director
  • Matthew Rinn – BART Board Director
  • Ken Broadway – Placer County Transportation Planning Agency – Rocklin, CA, City Council Member
  • Tim Schaefer – Sacramento Regional Transit District – Citrus Heights, CA, City Council Member 

Newly appointed alternate Board members: 

  • Suzanne Jones – Placer County Transportation Planning Agency – Placer County Supervisor 
  • Rod Brewer – Sacramento Regional Transit District – Elk Grove, CA, City Council Member
  • Mayra Vega – Yolo County Transportation District – Woodland, CA, City Council Member
  • Catherine Moy – Solano Transportation Authority – Fairfield, CA, Mayor

In addition, CCJPA recognizes the leadership transition that occurred during its November 2024 Board meeting with the election of Roseville, CA, City Council Member, Bruce Houdesheldt, as the new CCJPA Board Chair and BART’s Board Vice President, Melissa Hernandez, as CCJPA’s Board Vice Chair.

Houdesheldt has been on the CCJPA Board for the past four years and has more than 25 years in leadership. Their combined leadership will help guide the agency in its continued efforts to expand and improve the Capitol Corridor service.

Adjusted Train Schedule for the Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings Game at Golden 1 Center

Sacramento Kings will host the Golden State Warriors at Golden 1 Center on Friday, February 21, 2025, with the game starting at 7:00 p.m. Passengers should be aware that Train 551, the last train of the evening, will depart Sacramento Station (SAC) at 10:05 p.m. for Oakland Jack London (OKJ).

Please make sure to book tickets for the special game service in advance.

Bus Operations and Weather Update

Wednesday, March 12, 2025 and Thursday, March 13, 2025

  • Bus operations are CANCELED between Auburn and Reno (HWY 80)
  • Bus operations are CANCELED between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe (HWY 50)
  • Connecting bus service between Sacramento and Auburn (HWY 80) will continue to operate as scheduled.

Annual Business Plan Public Workshops 2025

During the week of February 10 – 14, 2025, the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA) will hold a series of public workshops to present its Draft FY 2025-26 – FY 2026-27 Annual Business Plan. The Annual Business Plan presents an overview of the CCJPA’s strategic plan and funding request for the next two fiscal years.  

This is an excellent opportunity for our riders, or anyone interested in the Capitol Corridor service to learn more about our plans and provide us input. We are excited to engage with our riders!
