Veteran’s Day Service Information

Veteran's Day Parade

There will be regular service on all trains and buses this Tuesday, November 11, Veteran’s Day. On Sunday, November 9, bus service in San Francisco will be suspended to the Financial District (SFF) and Shopping Center (SFS) stops from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. due to the annual Veteran’s Day Parade. The following connecting trains that may be affected are:

· Eastbound: 732, 734, 736

· Westbound: 727, 729, 733, 737

Passengers who normally access these stations can take the Market St. Muni subway or BART to Embarcadero, which is a short walk to the Ferry Building bus stop (SFC). Muni fare is $2.00, and BART fare from Powell or Civic Center is $1.85. Please allow enough travel time to transfer successfully to your Capitol Corridor train.

In addition to the parade in San Francisco, there are a number of parades and ceremonies that will be occurring along the Capitol Corridor route! Check out the parade in downtown Sacramento on November 11, as well as special offers for veterans and active military personnel at the California State Railroad Museum and Downtown Ice Rink. San Jose will also be hosting a parade starting at Plaza de Cesar Chavez on November 11.

Upcoming Construction at Sacramento Station to Impact Parking and Traffic

Sac Station Parking

The City of Sacramento will begin Phase II of their renovations to the Sacramento Station on Wednesday, November 12. Approximately half of the parking lot will be unavailable during this time, and the pick-up and drop-off loop will be significantly shorter than usual. The City of Sacramento will provide staff to help manage traffic flow during peak travel hours, but traffic conditions entering and exiting the station may still be challenging. Construction will continue through February, including Thanksgiving and the holidays, so plan to arrive early to allow plenty of time for parking and getting to the train platform

Parking will be available in the new West Parking lot of the station, or at the Old Sacramento Garage on 2nd and I streets. A commuter special rate of $4 per day is available if you are in by 7:30 a.m. and out after 5:30 p.m. Overflow parking is located in Lot 297 on 7th and G streets, and you must display your hang tag to avoid citation.

A special holiday drop-off location will be available across the station on 4th and I streets from November 25 to December 1, as well as December 23 to December 29. Additional drop-off locations are located on 5th street. Read more for details on the construction and parking availability dates.
