November 18, 2010 —To accommodate holiday travelers, the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA) will increase capacity by adding 5,700 seats on the Capitol Corridor, a 14% increase in seating availability. Most seats will be added on Wednesday, November 24th and Sunday, November 28th. “We are assigning all available spare cars to our holiday operations and leasing a trainset from Caltrain, which will enable us to add 1200 seats on two of the busiest rail travel days of the year,†CCJPA Chair Jim Holmes said. “That’s the equivalent of adding three trainsets to our daily service.â€Â In addition, on Wednesday, November 24th the CCJPA will extend Train 553’s (departing Sacramento at 9:10pm) route beyond its normal final destination at Oakland Jack London Square Station.  Train 553 will continue on to serve Oakland-Coliseum, Hayward, Fremont-Centerville, Great America/Santa Clara and San Jose-Diridon stations. This will give passengers who travel from Sacramento to the Bay Area an additional late evening travel option to the South Bay and San Jose.
Capitol Corridor trains will run on a regular Weekday schedule on Wednesday, November 24, 2010.
Trains to Run Weekend/Holiday Schedule Thanksgiving Weekend
Capitol Corridor trains will run on a Weekend/Holiday schedule from Thursday, November 25 through Sunday, November 28, 2010.
 Holiday Travel Tips
- Avoid the Rush:  Busiest travel days are Wednesday before and Sunday after Thanksgiving. Purchase tickets (especially for round trip travel) early online at capitolcorridor.org, Ticket Kiosk ticket vending kiosks or ticket windows at staffed stations. Allow plenty of time at stations prior to departure – at least 45 minutes before if tickets need to be picked up.  If your trip includes a bus connection, please book in advance to ensure yourself a seat. Print out your ticket confirmation and bring it with you aboard the bus.
-  Know the Limits:  Note the limit of two carry-on bags per person (excluding laptops, purses, briefcases and infant paraphernalia), and be sure all luggage is tagged with your name and address. Each bag must weigh less than 50 lbs.
- Â Carry Photo ID: Â Passengers are required to show valid, government-issued photo identification when purchasing tickets and to ride Capitol Corridor trains and connecting buses.
Riders can find the Capitol Corridor Weekend/Holiday schedule, parking information and detailed luggage guidelines online at capitolcorridor.org or call 1-877-974-3322.
